Kenneth Grange

Designer Kenneth Grange, who created the classic power car shape for the Intercity 125 train, has been knighted in the New Year Honours list. Now a Royal College of Art visiting professor, he also designed the 1997 Manganese Bronze London black cab, the country's first parking meter, and the Adshel bus shelter, as well as angle-poise lamps, the Kenwood Chef mixer (among over 100 domestic appliances), and Kodak Instamatic camera.
