The new toy was mounted in an MT3 collet, which means the Jacobs chuck or collet chuck are at the same working height as the coaxial indicator. My mill is an Axminster supplied rebadged Rong Fu RF25 mill drill so is belt driven. The maximum speed for using the coaxial indicator is the slowest speed that the mill will run at.This requires changing the belts to different pulley positions, removing both belts if the current chosen speed required the motor belt in the upper position. Being quite tall, the mill table is set at a comfortable height for me, meaning tip toes are needed to change the belts if the mill head is high up the column. Using the coaxial indicator for the first time highlighted the need for another solution to provide a slow speed drive for the indicator.
