The Treasury must review whether enough resources are being directed towards early intervention schemes, like the DCLG's troubled families programme, a panel of senior MPs have warned. A report issued last week by the Commons Justice Select Committee concluded changes to local partnership landscape since the coalition came to power have helped boost pooled funding arrangements and joint priorities for tackling crime. The introduction of police and crime commissioners and the transfer of public health responsibilities to councils were cited by the Committee as local measures which have significantly altered crime reduction strategies.
