The resignation of the two tri-borough chief executives, Derek Myers and Mike More simultaneously this week was billed by the councils involved as a 'coincidence' which they lined up to run at the same time.In fact, it isn't really a coincidence. The authorities mean it is not a conspiracy or a failure of the tri-borough experiment. Nor is it aimed at getting rid of them both to put in place a council uber-chief to run all three councils - they intend to keep the posts as they stand.The timing is because they are both of a similar age and have decided to retirement at a similar time.
