Oportun finds support at low end of range

OPORTUN FINANCIAL, a provider of credit to low-to-moderate income individuals, may have ranked as the smallest and lowest profile of the past week's IPOs, but it still managed to deliver more bang for the buck than the competition. Oportun eked out a 7.8% gain in its debut Nasdaq session Thursday, outdoing connected exercise bike maker Peloton Interactive (whose shares fell on debut) and talent agency Endeavor (whose IPO was postponed). A syndicate led by Barclays, JP Morgan, Jefferies and KBW late Wednesday priced the sale of 6.25m Oportun shares at US$15, the bottom of the US$15-$17 range, to raise gross proceeds of US$93.8m.
