'Take Canada's lead for public sector funds'

Whitehall should consider the 'outstanding experience' of Canadian public sector funds as it looks to reform the structure of the UK's local government pension scheme (LGPS), trade union UNISON has said.The Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) is currently analysing feedback from its latest consultation on opportunities for collaboration, cost savings and efficiencies.DCLG launched the consultation as it insisted it had no plans to pursue fund mergers after commissioning a cost-benefit analysis of the potential options for reform from Hymans Robertson.But UNISON's consultation submission, seen by The MJ, accuses the Government of being 'diverted by vested interests'.
