Redcar and Cleveland is a borough full of contrasts, with large areas of natural beauty and a mixture of coastal, rural and urban communities that include some of the most deprived wards in the country. The Council has gained national recognition for its work with families and schools and is now looking for two ambitious and talented people to help develop even better services. Both of these senior roles sit within the Council's largest directorate- People Services - which encompasses a broad range of functions, including Adult and Children's Services, Education and Public Health. It's a fantastic opportunity to join a successful team, driving and shaping the integration of health, education and social care within the local authority and, potentially to lead projects across the Tees Valley and wider North East region. The Assistant Director - Children and Families role encompasses social work, looked after children, early help, and independent review and inspection. The post also includes responsibility for lifelong disabilities across the whole directorate. One of the key challenges will be to create a 'one service' approach to families across social care, education and health.
