Education in Leeds has made significant improvements since it was judged the worst in the country. Chris Edwards, chief executive of Education Leeds, tells Nicola Carroll how Five years ago, Ofsted inspectors deemed the local education authority in Leeds the worst in the country -and ordered secretary of state intervention. The city council's response to its poor education performance was to set up Education Leeds, a wholly-owned, not-for-profit council company the following year, with Capita as its strategic partner.
