Birmingham City Council's chief finance officer Clive Heaphy is set to step up as chief executive when current incumbent Dawn Baxendale leaves the post. The council agreed arrangements that will see Mr Heaphy step into the role, subject to approval by full council on 10 September. Birmingham's current chief executive, Dawn Baxendale, announced last month that she will be taking up the post of chief executive officer at Christchurch City Council in New Zealand. The recruitment process for the new permanent chief executive will begin in September. A precise departure date will be agreed once Ms Baxendale's arrangements for her move to New Zealand have been finalised.
