The agile organisation is not a new or innovative idea. The public sector, against a backdrop of austerity and ever-tightening financial constraint, has had to not only recognise but embrace the need to adapt and evolve to meet future demands. The desire to create agile and flexible organisations needs employees to be at the core. HR is a critical partner to facilitate the people and associated elements of change. It is fair to say that reducing office space and workforce numbers and allowing home working is not the whole picture.
