Gareth Stace is the Dairy Industry Association's (DIAL) Environment Manager. He is the man who helps to keep the trade organisation's members up-to-date on the environmental issues of the day: and there are plenty of them about -CCL, packaging waste, IPPC, WEEE and EU ETS, to name but a few. Gareth, who gained an environmental science degree from Kings College, London, keeps everyone appraised of the latest developments and forthcoming legislation; he helps members plan how they will comply; he organises seminars and briefings; works with other sector trade organisations and the European Dairy Association as they seek to lobby the UK government and the European Commission. Gareth is a busy man, but found time to talk to Milk Industry editor Geoff Platt, who started by asking him how important environmental issues were for the dairy industry?
