Warfare is timeless, yet ever changing. In the decades to come, wars will be waged with a full spectrum of capabilities, involving nearly everything that is capable of being thought of by the mind of man, but recent trends point to an emerging era of warfare that has already been proved on the battlefields of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia - the robotisation of war. The robotisation of war is the process of putting robots in place of humans to engage in combat. Remotely controlled lethal weapons that fly, roll, crawl or swim are already essential parts of the arsenals of modern military forces. The weapon of choice in the past few years have been UAVs, but UGVs have also made their mark. From reconnaissance and bomb disposal, to killing, it is clear that robots are here to stay.
