Chapter Achievements

Hawaii Chapter member Capt. George Sullivan, USN-Ret, accepted an invitation to the Oval Office to see President George W. Bush sign a proclamation designating nine sites as the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument. Five sites are in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Battleship Row Moorings, the Chief Petty Officer Bungalows, the USS Arizona Memorial and Halawa Landing, the USS Oklahoma Memorial, and the USS Utah Memorial. Three are in Alaska at a B-24 crash site, a Japanese occupation site, and the Attu battlefield. One also is in Newell, Calif., at the Tule Lake Japanese Internment Camp.
