You've got your COI, now are you ready for that annual exercise?

Congratulations owners and operators! You've made it through 18 months of operating under your approved security plans. It was quite a job implementing these plans in a rush, and I know some of you are still feeling the hit of implementation costs, both operationally and financially. By now, I assume all of you have completed your annual audit, and made the necessary amendments to better tailor the plan to your specific operational needs. Of pressing concern is completing your annual exercise. Hopefully, an allowance of "18 months" to complete this requirement was written into your security plan (some of you might be calling your VSO's and FSO's before you're done reading this article to make sure your plan has this allowance).
