U.S. Regulatory Update: Focus on Food Safety

Much has changed in Washington, DC, since the election of President Barack Obama.We have witnessed a change of administration and the corresponding change in philosophical approach to government. We have also witnessed the biggest food recall in U.S. history, stemming from improperly handled peanuts, which resulted in nine deaths and many hundreds of individuals sickened. Food safety is now the focus and priority of the food industry -it is also a priority for government and the consumer.
