One of the core pillars of NCA is to work with regulatory agencies on behalf of the confectionery industry. Labeling, food safety, cocoa processing and health and well-ness are the main areas of discussion. Based on recent statements and the 2013 budget, FDA's top priorities include safety of imports from China (including ingredients), Food Safety Modernization Act implementation and consumer research surrounding labeling (added sugars, fortification of snack foods, etc).
