The finger mounting device may include a finger mounting unit. The finger mounting unit may each have components such as force sensors, accelerometers, and other sensors, and a body that functions as a support structure for the haptic output device. The body may have a side wall coupled to a portion that rests adjacent to the user's fingernail. The body can be formed from a deformable material, such as metal, or can be formed from an adjustable structure, such as a sliding body, joined together using magnetic attraction, springs, or other structures. The body of each finger mounting unit may have a U-shaped cross-sectional profile that leaves the belly of each finger finger exposed when the body is coupled to the fingertip of the user's finger. The control circuit may use the sensor to collect finger press input, lateral finger motion input, and finger tap input and provide a haptic output using a haptic output device.
