In memory of Mikhail Abramovich Zharkov

Prof Mikhail Abramovich Zharkov, DSc (Geol. Miner.), an eminent scientist, chief researcher of the Geological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences (GIN RAS), and honored scientist of the Russian Federation, passed away on May 11, 2009. Zharkov is remembered for his many contributions to petroleum geology, stratigraphy, and for his insightful analyses of sedimentary rock formations.
