We can create seven million new jobs worldwide by 2025, conserve 170 million tonnes of precious fossil fuel reserves a year, slash greenhouse gas emissions, and avoid tens of thousands of road traffic deaths and many millions more respiratory-related diseases through urban pollution. The magic formula for all this joy? Simply double the use of public transport, proclaimed many of the speakers at the 59th World Congress of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) in Dubai from 10-14 April.
