I recently exchanged emails with a woman whose sons play games online. She observed them investing significant time theorycrafting, researching tactics, and optimizing their characters offline; yet, speaking of their homework habits, she told me they "do not seem to enjoy learning."rnAs a Ph.D. candidate beginning to study games and motivation, this woman was sympathetic to gaming and conversant with the games in question.
