Mexican MVNOs capture just 1.1% of market - study

Mexico may be the leading country in Latin America in terms of the number of MVNOs currently operating but they have managed to capture just 1.1, percent of mobile lines in the three since the first was launched, according to a report by The Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU). The figures show that there were around 1.2 million active MVNO SIMs in the first quarter of 2017, with the operators accounting for just 0.3 percent of total market revenues. However, the report adds that 37 percent of Mexican mobile telephony users are prepared to switch to MVNOs and pay higher rates in exchange for benefits and discounts on products that traditional operators cannot offer.
