New designer Lauren Day from Renfrewshire has been awarded a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) scholarship which enabled her to enrol for the Haute Couture Professional Training course at Ecole Lesage in Paris. Her designs have a strong focus on hand-embroidery, and she will be taught by exceptionally skilled embroiderers at the specialist school. Lauren studied at the Glasgow School of Art and was selected to join Fashion Foundry, a new initiative led by the Cultural Enterprise Office to help promising fashion and textile designers to develop their businesses. During this time she participated in textile industry events and explored new ideas. After her time in Paris, Lauren plans to launch a textile workshop in Scotland creating small collections of innovative and colourful artisan textiles.
