Psychodrama-therapy is a common method in the field of inpatient withdrawal treatments, where patients are admitted after physical withdrawal for psychological rehabilitation. The Department of Drug Disorders of the Psychiatric Hospital in Hall is attempting to introduce psychodrama group therapy as a methodological element during the phase of drug withdrawal. The authors describe the initial planning phase as well as the experiences gathered during the first months of group therapy in this setting. This report contains three sections. In the first, Mag. Wolfgang Färber will introduce the Department of Drug Disorders of the State Hospital Hall in Tirol (Austria), including a brief historical overview about group therapy. In the second section, Mag. Barbara Haid will delineate the implementation of the new group concept as well as standardized effect-surveys. Last but not least, Dr. Jutta Fürst will depict her accompanying project as department supervisor of the new concept of group therapy.
