The Challenges or Using Online Dispute Resolution for Self Represented LlTIGHMTS

The birth of the modern Alternative Dispute Resolution movement in the 1970s and the development of the World Wide Web in the 1990s, has led to the birth of the Online Dispute Resolution movement. Initially it was envisaged that this movement would only focus upon disputes arising from E Commerce transactions. However, over the last five years, Online Dispute Resolution is being used in a variety of civil justice domains. A growing trend in legal circles in the last two decades has been the rise of self-represented litigants. In this article, we illustrate how the growing use of artificial intelligence in Online Dispute Resolution can assist self-represented litigants. We develop a classification scheme for Online Dispute Resolution Systems and investigate how each category of Online Dispute Resolution Systems can assist self-represented litigants.
