An ultra wideband split cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna is proposed in this paper. A split cylindrical resonator with major-arc cross-section distinct from traditional semi-circle cross-section is fabricated above the dielectric substrate and ground plane. The presented antenna is fed by a coaxial probe and quite wide impedance bandwidth in the range of 100% is achieved, covering from 8.6 to 25.9 GHz, namely about the whole X-, Ku- and K-band. The CST software is employed to design and such parameters as height and location of probe is swept for further study to attain desired performance of antenna.
