Environmental Degradation of Haora River and its Impact on Agartala City

摘要

One of the ten important rivers of Tripura is Haora, on the banks of which Agartala , the capital of Tripura, is established. The growing urbanization fallouts have made a cascading effect on free-flowing character of the river during the winter and spring when the river becomes almost dry. The Present paper, which is mainly based on field study, highlights present inconveniences of common people and environmental concerns caused from exploitation of river and some suggestions for improving the deteriorating conditions of the river.
