Employee Commitment and Organizational Citizenship Behaviors in the Hotel Industry: Do Foci Matter?

In this article the authors examine the relationship between employee commitment and organizational citizenship behaviors. Their main objective is to examine the relationship between commitment to the organization, the supervisor, and colleagues, and citizenship behavior directed toward the organization (civic virtue and sportsmanship) and individuals (helping). The authors present the results of a study conducted in 10 hotels located in Quebec, providing 180 usable responses. The findings show that while commitment to the organization is related to helping, civic virtue, and sportsmanship, commitment to the supervisor is only related to sportsmanship. Commitment to colleagues is only linked to helping.
