Brighter than Blight was a multi-media art project funded by California Affordable Housing Initiatives (CAHI) with the cooperation of the Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) and executed by artist lse Lyfe on the site of a long-closed and soon-to-be demolished public housing site. Councilmember Desley Brooks was also involved in the project, which, according to a review in SFGate, "includes photographs, poems, an altar, a recreation of "Grandma's House" and other installations scattered throughout the 16-unit complex, which [Lyfe] painted black for the occasion."
