To start, let's acknowledge the enormous contributions of E. Allen Foegeding as Editor in Chief over the past 8 years. He built on the solid foundation set by Daryl Lund and Owen Fennema before him but added his own unique approach. I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead the IFT Scientific Journals after such previous leadership. But the heritage of those three past Editors makes this a tough act to follow - some big shoes, and all that. I would particularly like to note the efforts of Allen in managing the journals. He has handed things over to me in an impeccable state. The status of our scientific journals has never been better, by whatever yardstick you use to measure success. But we can always improve, so it is my role now to continue that growth and development.
