The clamping device for clamping and fixing particularly flat workpieces acts on the workpiece in the edge area and has two or more angularly adjusted clamp legs which follow the contour of the workpiece. Between two adjacent clamp legs (1,2) a link (3) is arranged around the rotary axis (3/1) of which at least one of the legs is is pivotable. In the clamping legs at least one magnet system is incorporated, which holds the workpiece(s) during a work process. The diameter of the link is greater than the width of the clamping legs. It is possible for several pairs of clamping legs to be used with intermediate links and arranged so that a geometrical form such as a triangle, rectangle or similar is composed.
