摘要

This book offers methods to teach students to be sophisticated users of the Web. It reflects a change in librarians' roles as they expand their offerings from "how-to" instruction for individual products to creating teaching materials that promote information literacy in students. Devine and Egger-Sider succeed in providing librarians with tools that will accomplish this goal. The invisible Web is described as approximately 500 times the size of the visible Web, holding information that cannot be found through conventional search engines. The authors note, however, that the preponderance of information is from open-access and fee-based databases.
