摘要

Dr. Brooke Sheldon's book is as compact as it is powerful, as practical as it is theoretical, and as valuable a tool for any library leader's or any leader's bookshelf as it is a handy reference for any librarian's personal reading. There are many reasons why Sheldon's book is essential for library leaders or any professionals who wants to improve their interpersonal skills as key to successful leadership. Sheldon acknowledges that interpersonal skills are only one aspect of leadership but would also argue that it is possibly the most important ingredient (90%), without which a leader has no chance of success (p. 1). Sheldon in fact states her premise that "the path to leadership is paved for people with social and emotional intelligence" (p. viii). Moreover, she makes a compelling case through her book using anecdotes and real-life scenarios as well as experts' testimony.
