摘要

As onions are often mixed with different kinds of leafy vegetables and spices in household preparations, an attempt was made to test the influence of aqueous extracts of the leaves of Amaranthus viridis, Coriandrum sativum, Hibiscus cannabinus, Mentha viridis, Murraya koenigii, Spinacia oleracea, bark of Cinnamomum zeylanicum, turmeric and chilli powders, garlic and green chilli on the growth of Aspergillus niger. Czapek-Dox broth amended with the aqueous plant extracts was inoculated with actively growing culture and incubated for 15 days as 30±2℃ as stationary culture to measure the biomass. Stimulation of mould growth was found in all the plant extracts with the exception of curry leaf, coriander leaf and green chilli.
