摘要

Early performance measurements on experimental electrospun fiber mats compare favorably with transport properties of textiles and mem- branes currently used in protective clothing systems. The electrospun layers present minimal impedance to moisture vapor diffusion required for evaporative cooling. Air flow resistance measurements and electron micros- copy suggest that fibers and pore size are small enough to exclude micro- particles. These encouraging results point towards important questions that must be resolved in this continuing development of electrospun fiber layers.
