How small regional airports can survive and thrive in the global economic crisis

The global economic crisis is having a huge impact on all of us who operate within the aeronautical industry, and things are likely to get worse. Consumer spending is falling and there is the distinct possibility of further airline bankruptcies to come. Many believe that we are in a more perilous state than post 9/11 and everyone is focusing on how best to survive - not surprising then that the underlying theme of a recent airport/ airline conference was 'Keeping what you have got!'. But doing this may prove a stiff challenge to all but a few fortunate airports in 2009.
