摘要

Today, universities are focusing on quality assurance and enhancement more than before, and they expect all departments including the library to measure and improve the quality and effectiveness of their services systematically. The push behind this need is partly due to institutional budget constraints and the growing competition between academic units as business entities. It has also become a challenge for libraries to quantify and justify the value of their services objectively to university administrators—a vital effort to the sustainable development of libraries. Therefore, it is crucial for librarians and library managers and researchers to learn and implement quality assessments and enhancement concepts and techniques. While the literature relating to this subject is extensive and complex, this book provides relatively concise yet accessible and diverse knowledge on maintaining quality in academic libraries.
