The first firing of two production standard Meteor missiles at a remotely controlled target was carried out from a Gripen trials aircraft at the end of June, Saab announced on 1 July. Conducted by a team that included representatives from Saab, MBDA, and Sweden's Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), the trial demonstrated separation from the aircraft, the datalink function between the aircraft and missile, and the ability to lock onto the target.
