China's People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) has begun equipping its 26th Air Brigade with J-16 multi-role fighter aircraft to replace some of its ageing J-10A fighters. A report by state-owned broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) released on 29 August showed images of both J-16 and older J-10A fighters at what appeared to be Hui-yang Airbase in Guangdong Province. At least one of the J-16s shown in the footage can be identified as bearing serial number '63272'. Serials adhering to the format '63x7x' indicate that the platforms bearing them are operated by 26th Air Brigade, which is under the PLA's Southern Theatre Command.
