Images released by Chinese state-owned media have confirmed that the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) is now officially operating at least some J-10 multirole fighter aircraft fitted with locally made Shenyang-Liming WS10 Taihang-series engines. The images, which were released on 10 May via the Weibo account of broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV), show a J-10C painted in a low-visibility grey colour scheme fitted with what appears to be a WS10B engine rather than the Russian-made Saturn AL-31FN turbofan that normally powers these aircraft.
