Australia looks to automotive industry to address shipbuilding manpower shortage

The Australian government is looking to the country's automotive industry to help bridge a gap in naval shipbuilding jobs. Melissa Price, Australia's defence industry minister, confirmed on 2 March that the government has approached South Australian car manufacturer Holden to possibly repurpose some of the company's engineers and design specialists to support naval shipbuilding programmes.
