Defence offsets underpin Korean industrial development to drive up export sales

South Korea's Defense Agency for Technology and Quality (DTaQ) - a body under the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) - has told Jane's it is ramping up support for local defence companies as part of efforts to stimulate exports and reduce reliance on imports. Officials from DTaQsaid at the 2019 Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) that the agency's expanding efforts are in line with revisions to South Korea's defence offset policy, which places increasing emphasis on encouraging foreign contractor engagement with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
