The Russian Federation Air Force (RFAF) and the North American Aerospace Defense (NORAD) command recently completed their second co-operative air defence exercise. The exercise focused on combating air terrorism, according to a 10 August NORAD press statement. "Exercise 'Vigilant Eagle' was a resounding success," said Canadian Air Force Colonel Todd Balfe, Deputy Commander, Alaskan NORAD Region. Russian and NORAD personnel "executed two live-fly events in two days", said Col Balfe. The 'Vigilant Eagle' exercise took place from 7-9 August and involved Canadian, Russian and US military personnel operating from command centres in Russia and the United States.
