India's Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has censured public-sector company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for selling seven multirole Dhruv advanced light helicopters (ALHs) to the Ecuadorian Air Force (EAF) in 2008 for well below their manufacturing cost. In its report, tabled in parliament on 9 August, the watchdog CAG revealed that HAL had underpriced the 5.5-ton ALHs by INR520 million (USD8.5 million). The deal was the first export order HAL had ever received for a complete platform.
