USA’s SDI posts better Q3 results for steel operations due to higher selling price,lower scrap cost

Steel Dynamics, one of US major steel producers, reported its Q3 results, posting a 25% improvement in the operatingincome for its steel operations (to $127 million) as compared to Q2.Better performance of the company steel division was “due to metal spread expansion, as both average steel productpricing and raw material scrap costs improved in the quarter,” said in the company press release. In particular, theaverage steel selling price went up $3/st, while scrap cost decreased $3/st, Metal Expert learnt from the release.
