British Army moves to protected mobility support

An overarching support contract for more than 2,000 protected mobility vehicles bought by the British Army for the war in Afghanistan is to be in place by 2017. Senior officials in the UK's Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) procurement organisation say the project, known as Protected Mobility Strategic Support Supplier (PM SSS), will involve a competition rather than be sole sourced from original equipment manufacturers.
