Russia has accused Turkey of preparing to intervene in northern Syria after opposition fighters suffered a serious setback around Aleppo, Syria's largest city. "We have reasonable grounds to suspect intensive preparations by Turkey for a military invasion of the territory of a sovereign state: the Syrian Arab Republic," Russian Ministry of Defence spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov told journalists during a 4 February briefing in Moscow.
