Jumbo shrimp, postal service, old news, pretty ugly, Microsoft Works, rap music, and iSeries marketing are classic examples of oxymorons — contradictory terms used together. One of these, iSeries marketing, may be cease to be a contradiction. IBM may actually market iSeries! You may be saying, as I usually do, "Yeah, sure. I've heard that one before." IBM has created this skepticism by failing to fulfill the promise of marketing the iSeries platform. At every COMMON conference Sound Off (now called "Town Hall Meetings"), loyal iSeries customers stand up and tell the panel of IBM executives that iSeries is falling out of favor in the public because IBM is not marketing or advertising it.
