Portuguese freight forwarders will hold a technology congress, the 《Jor-nadas Tecnicas》, in Quiaios near Figueira da Foz (Portugal) in mid-October. One of the main topics of discussion will be the conditions under which they will be expected to work in Lisbon airport's new airfreight complex, which is due to be opened before the end of this year. Even before the official inauguration, the new facilities seem to be too small for all the employees they are meant to accommodate. Alves Vieira, secretary general of the Associacao de Transitaires de Portugal (Apat) told the ITJ that only the agents currently working in buildings 17 and 31 of the airport were guaranteed a right to use the offices in the new airfreight complex. The old rooms will either be demolished or re-assigned as part of the expansion of the airport's passenger section. And even the agents who are entitled to take over the new offices worry that their working space will be substantially reduced.
