The Georgian state railway company, Sakartvelos Rkinigza, has set itself some ambitious goals. Not only does it want to increase its revenues from railfreight, but it also wants to boost the overall health of the nation's economy through continued expansion of the infrastructure linking the capital city Tbilisi with other regions of the country. The new agenda was announced in Tbilisi recently by the rail company's new director, Manuka Bakhtadze, who has been running the company since March.
