Region Oil, Russia, advances hydro plans

The Region Oil Company of Russia is preparing to invest about US$ 2 billion in the construction of three hydro plants, with a combined capacity of 1200 MW, in southern Laos the local Vientiane Times newspaper reported in March. Region Oil is working on the documentation needed to implement the projects, includ-rning shareholder, financing, power purchase, operation and maintenance, and concession agreements. The report said that the company has already carried out all the necessary surveys, and that the selection of contractors for the projects is underway.
